Two new Canadian scientific studies have come to confirm that moderate alcohol consumption on a daily basis benefits the heart and general circulation.

The first study (meta-analysis), which is bench

marked medical research 30 years on the subject, concluded that daily but moderate drinking (about one cup a day) decreases 14% to 25% the risk of heart disease , compared with those who do not drink at all. The second study, by the same team at the University of Calgary, led by Professor William Ghali, found that moderate alcohol consumption (up to 15 grams a day for women and 30 grams for men ) increases the "good" cholesterol and thus also benefits the circulatory system and heart. According to the researchers, the beneficial effect seems to stem from all forms of alcohol.

The two studies, published in the British medical journal "British Medical Journal", according to the BBC and AFP, indicating that the overall risk of death is lower for those who drink small amounts of alcohol (2.5 to 14.9 grams) and reduced to 25% risk for any cardiovascular disease, while reducing the risk of stroke.

But experts pointed out that there is no reason to start to drink deliberately to do good in his heart as "preying" always the risk of drinking more alcohol, with all its negative consequences. Similar benefits with moderate alcohol, one can achieve with exercise and proper diet.
